This website provides support material and guidance for induction in England. Much of the information is in a downloadable form.

Wales: Induction and Early Professional Development for Newly Qualified Teachers in Wales (revised September 2006). Circular Number: 21/2006 (2006, National Assembly for Wales, http://new.wales.gov.uk) provides an overview of induction procedure in Wales, identifying the roles and responsibilities of those involved.

Scotland: The Standards for Full Registration (2006, General Teaching Council for Scotland http://www.gtcs.org.uk)
This identifies the competences that must be met in Scotland to complete probation and become fully registered as a teacher.

Northern Ireland: The Code of Values and Professional Practice (2004, General Teaching Council of Northern Ireland, http://www.gtcni.org.uk).
This website provides details of the competence required of teachers within Northern Ireland. A more recent publication Teaching — the Reflective Profession provides an overview of the competence and how they can be developed further.

This document is well worth reading. It sets out the statutory conditions for the employment of teachers in England and provides information about salary scales and conditions of work.
