Podcasts

Most CMSs have recording capabilities for podcasts, but there are other options for creating podcasts as well. To create a podcast, instructors need a microphone and a software program to record the lecture and turn it into a digital recording. Audacity is free open source software that records and edits sound (http://audacity.sourceforge.net). You will also need to download the Lame MP3 encoder (http://lame.sourceforge.net/index.php). This works with Audacity to output the podcast to MP3 audio format. If you are not technically inclined, you might want to consider other options. Gcast (www.gcast.com) and My PodCast.com (www.MyPodcast.com) are websites that provide for the recording and hosting of podcasts for free. Both insert a commercial into each podcast as a way of supporting their free service.
