Welcome!

Welcome to the Companion Website for An Introduction to Critical Discourse Analysis in Education, Second Edition!

The website is a new feature of the book and is intended to extend inquiry, exploration, and dialogue beyond the chapters in the book. Designed with students in mind, the Companion Website includes the following elements:

About the Book
Author biographies and photos, table of contents, chapter abstracts.

Chapter Extensions
PowerPoints for each of the empirical chapters, and a discussion guide for each section of the book.

Interviews
Transcripts of original interviews with James Gee, Norman Fairclough, and Gunther Kress, the leading scholars in each of the approaches highlighted in the book.

Videos
Four 15-minute videos featuring many of the leading scholars in critical discourse studies. The videos are organized around four themes: Approaches, Procedures, Context, Future Directions.

Resources for Teaching and Learning CDA
Resources include an extensive bibliography, a list of teaching and learning resources, discourse analysis journals and examples of syllabi from leading scholars in the field.

Because the inquiry practices entailed by discourse analysis in education are expanding and evolving so rapidly, it is likely that the resources provided today will be supplemented by newer resources tomorrow. Our hope is that practitioners of Critical Discourse Studies will use the resources on this website as a point of departure, and will add their own contributions to an open-ended collection of materials.

In this spirit of building from what we have learned from our students, we offer the Companion Website for An Introduction to Critical Discourse Analysis in Education, Second Edition.
